A bikini wax is one of those appointments women think about for a long time before booking. Not because it is complicated, but because of everything around it — who will be in the room, how much it will hurt, whether they will be judged. So let us answer those first, plainly.
At Nakhra Studio you will be waxed by a female therapist, in a private treatment room with the door closed, in a women-only studio. There are no men in the building. And almost every first-time client tells us afterwards that it hurt considerably less than she had imagined.
Two things decide how a bikini wax feels, and neither is your pain tolerance.
The first is the wax. We use a premium hard wax for bikini and Brazilian work, not strip wax. Hard wax sets around the hair and lifts it without gripping the skin underneath. Strip wax pulls at the skin as well as the hair, which on a delicate area is most of the pain people remember. This one choice is the bulk of the difference.
The second is technique. Working in small sections, at the correct angle, holding the skin taut, and moving at the speed that comes from doing it many times a day. A confident therapist is a fast one, and fast is less painful. Our therapists each hold a cosmetology degree with five to seven-plus years of experience and are trained in-house by Mehak before they work on a client.
The names get used loosely and nobody explains them, so here they are:

If you are not sure, that is completely normal, and you do not need to have decided before you arrive. Your therapist will explain the options in the room and you can choose then. You can also change your mind partway through — plenty of people do.
You are taken to a private room and your therapist explains each step before it happens. Draping is used throughout, so only the small section being worked on is uncovered at any point. You set the pace — if you want a moment, say so.
She has done this many, many times. Whatever you are self-conscious about, she has seen it, and there is genuinely no reaction to it. We say this to nearly every first-time client because it is the reassurance that matters most, and because it is true.
It takes less time than most people imagine. Afterwards we apply a soothing post-wax product and talk you through the aftercare.
Most complaints about waxing — patchiness, ingrown hairs, irritation — trace back to a handful of avoidable things.
If you get ingrown hairs badly, tell us. We will adjust the wax and give you a specific routine rather than the generic advice.
Wax is never double-dipped — a spatula goes into the pot once and is disposed of. Fresh linens for every client, single-use disposables, and every reusable tool sterilised after every single use.
This is basic, but it is not universal, and on intimate waxing it matters more than anywhere else. You are entitled to ask about it at any salon you go to, and you should.
Some places in the city advertise laser for this area. We do not. We are cosmetologists and estheticians, and we have chosen to do waxing to a high standard rather than add a service we are not set up to deliver properly.
The practical difference is smaller than the marketing suggests. Waxing done well, on a sensible schedule, with the right wax for the area, gives smooth skin — and regrowth genuinely does get finer over time.
Book three to five days ahead of the event, not the morning of, so any sensitivity has fully settled and nothing shows in photographs or under a fitted outfit.
If it is your first time, do not make your wedding week the first time. Come once well beforehand so you know exactly what to expect and so we can see how your skin responds. For our brides this gets planned into the schedule as part of the pre-bridal consultation, in the right order relative to body polishing so neither irritates the other.
Nothing about your appointment is discussed with anyone. Not with other clients, not with other staff beyond what your therapist needs to know to look after you properly. Discretion is part of how our team is trained, and for a lot of our clients it is the reason they stopped going elsewhere.

A basic bikini tidies outside the bikini line. An extended bikini takes more from the sides and top. A Brazilian is a fuller removal with the option of leaving a strip, and full removal takes everything. Your therapist will explain the options and you can decide in the room.
About a quarter of an inch, roughly two to three weeks of growth. Shorter than that and the wax cannot grip properly, so the result will be patchy.
That it is completely routine for us, that everything is explained before it happens, that draping is used throughout, and that you set the pace. You do not need to decide which option you want before you arrive.
Exfoliate gently two or three times a week between appointments but not on the day, wear loose clothing straight afterwards, and do not shave in between. If you are prone to them, tell us and we will build you a routine.
Every three to four weeks. Regular waxing softens regrowth over time, which makes each appointment faster and more comfortable.
Yes, though skin is more sensitive in the days just before and during. If your dates are flexible, booking outside that window is more comfortable.
